Manual Driving Lessons in Horsham
Local, independent, ADI registered. Dan Stagg teaches Horsham's roads — 18 years' experience, 7 days a week.
An independent Horsham driving instructor who actually knows the roads
National franchises cover Horsham — but they assign whichever instructor happens to be available. You might get a different instructor every few weeks, and there's no guarantee they know Horsham's roads personally.
Dan teaches Horsham exclusively alongside Crawley. He knows Horsham's residential streets, the routes to Crawley DVSA test centre, and the dual carriageways and roundabouts that appear on test routes. Nothing is new to Dan — or to you by the time test day arrives.
Instructor
Every lesson is with Dan. He knows your name, your progress, and exactly where you got to last time. That consistency matters more than most people expect.
Horsham areas covered
Dan teaches across Horsham and the surrounding areas, covering both RH12 (north) and RH13 (south) postcodes.
Note: Dan does not currently cover Southwater or Billingshurst. Contact Dan to confirm availability in your area.

What your lessons will cover
Dan uses the same structured, progressive teaching approach for every pupil — in both Horsham and Crawley.
iPad briefing before each skill
Before any new technique, Dan shows you diagrams and video on his iPad so you understand what you're about to do — and why — before you try it.
Guided → prompted → independent
Dan talks you through each skill, then prompts you with questions, then lets you do it independently. Real understanding, not just following instructions.
Mock test
A mock test is required before your actual test booking. It's how Dan knows you're genuinely ready — not just roughly ready. No exceptions.
Dual controls throughout
Dan's car has dual controls. You're in a completely safe environment from your very first lesson, whatever happens on the road.
Honest debrief after every lesson
At the end of each lesson, Dan tells you plainly what went well, what needs work, and what to focus on before next time. You always leave knowing where you stand.
Your pace, not a schedule
Some pupils take to driving quickly. Others need longer on certain skills. Both are completely normal. Dan adjusts the plan to you — not the other way round.
What Horsham pupils say about Dan
My son is autistic and we were worried about finding an instructor who'd understand how he learns. Dan was brilliant — calm, structured, and adapted everything to how my son processes information. He passed with only two minor faults.
I'd been with two other instructors before Dan. Both were fine but I never felt like I was actually making progress. Dan's approach is completely different — clear, structured, and he explains everything before you try it. Passed first time.
Dan was patient, thorough, and never made me feel rushed. He explained every hazard before I encountered it on the road. When test day came, I felt properly prepared. Passed with only one minor.
